Karen Lazenby was nominated by Jan Parker, Hearing Aid Practitioner at Lloydminster Hearing Centre in Lloydminster, Alberta, to receive a brand new pair of hearing aids from the Campaign for Better Hearing’s Give-back program. Here is how this award will positively impact Karen’s life:

“Being a recipient of this award has made a difference in my life by giving me a chance to hear the sounds that are out there in the world. It has allowed me to be equal with every other person in the workforce. It boosts my self-confidence. I was feeling like everything was going against me in this life, but getting this new hearing aid really boosted me up again, made me feel like there is someone out there that can help me to improve my quality of life by giving me the chance to hear sounds that I cannot hear on my own.

“In my opinion, there are a lot of difficulties with having hearing loss, ranging from communication with people, to getting the help that one needs. Because of where I live, I don’t have any access to a lot of support, such as an opportunity to learn sign language. It really is difficult dealing with the hearing loss that I have.

“With that being said, I would recommend that you get a hearing test so that you know what level of hearing loss you have. Discuss the issues that you’re having with an audiologist who can help you understand what is happening. This will help you make an informed decision on what to do.”

For every free hearing test taken with one of the Campaign for Better Hearing sponsors, $4.00 is donated towards the purchase of hearing aids for those who need them. To book a hearing test, click the “request an appointment” button in the top right corner of the page.
