Joy Western was nominated by hearing professional Shelley Jarvis in Port Dover, Ontario for the Campaign for Better Hearing’s Give-back program. Here is what she had to say:

My name is Joy Western. On June 3rd, I will be 92 years old. Several years ago, I found that my hearing was not as good as it used to be and I went to HearingLife and talked to Shelley. She helped me get the right hearing aids for my needs and what a difference it made in my life.

Unfortunately, in early February of this year, I fell while getting on one of my horses. I was hospitalized for several weeks in order to regain my strength. One day, in the busy life of the hospital, one of my hearing aids disappeared and the explanation was that it probably went out with the bedding, never to be seen again.

When Shelley told me I would receive a new set of hearing aids, I was overjoyed. It will make such a difference in the new chapter of my life. Now, being able to look forward to actively entering every aspect of my new life gives me great joy and I thank the campaign so much for this wonderful gift. 92 may be old in years, but to me, it is the beginning of something new and exciting and I thank Shelley for what she has done to be part of this new experience.
