Shirley Geyer received an early Christmas gift when Konrad Malinski, her Hearing Instrument Specialist from ListenUP! Canada in Belleville, fit her with a brand new pair of hearing aids thanks to the Campaign for Better Hearing’s Give-Back Program.

Shirley owns a small ceramic studio in Frankford, Ontario and found that her quality of life was suffering when she wasn’t able to hear what people were saying. Now, she expects her quality of life to improve significantly.

“I will be able to hear what people are saying more clearly,” says Shirley. “I will be able to answer the phone without putting it on speaker; I won’t be making everyone in my house deaf because I need to have the TV loud so I can hear it!”

For every free hearing test that is taken, the Campaign for Better Hearing sponsors donate $4.00 towards the purchase of hearing aids for people who need them. Shirley is just one of the many beneficiaries of this program who encourages everyone to take control of their hearing health.

“Don’t ignore your hearing health,” says Shirley. “You could be missing out on so much. You will be very surprised once you can hear again and once you realize how much you have missed for so long. Hearing aids are expensive, but with the government covering some of the costs and with the payment plans available, you can get the financial assistance if you need it.”
